Friuli-Venezia Giulia, ItalyMassimo di Lenardo runs this spectacular Friuli property, founded in 1878, mixing estate fruit with purchased fruit from Friuli Grave, Friuli Aquileia, and the Colli Orientali Del Friuli DOCs. The winemaking is simple: the grapes are hand harvested and fermented with modern technology, including solar energy, to generate all the electricity used at the winery. The style is clean and bright with the softness of Friuli combined with pear syrup, honey, bananas, quince and that unmistakable almond flavour. One of the best I of this label I have had, with a purity of fruit jumping out of the glass. Well done.
