Cantine Madonna Delle Grazie Messer Oto 2018

Basilicata, ItalyCantine Madonna della Grazie is a small organic / biodynamic winery in Venosa, in the heart of Vulture. Messer Oto is their entry-level agliancio from this producer, meant to be enjoyed in youth as it sees only stainless. From their Contrada Piano di Camera vineyard, this 2 hectare parcel is from their youngest vineyards (15 years), at 420m on limestone / volcanic soils. The grapes are a masale selection of small berries with more polyphenols in the skin, resulting in a deeper hued red. After a native ferment in stainless, it remains there 2-3 years, and is lightly filtered, with low sulphur. Crushed flowers, black raspberry, cherry is tightly woven with buzzy stony minerality brightening the medium palate. Tannins are fine and tight, framing this lively wine to a saline finish. Energy abounds.Tasted: 01 September 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
