Rigour and Whimsy Licorice Daddy 2021

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRigour & Whimsy are a tiny garagiste, family-owned winery based in Okanagan Falls, sourcing vineyards across the Okanagan for their creative and adventuresome (and artfully labelled) portfolio, one that changes annually. This cab franc comes off the Sekhon Family vineyard in Osoyoos, and was inspired by the Loire Valley. This was destemmed and fermented whole berry over 3 weeks maceration, and was then pressed and racked into older puncheons and barriques, where it remained for 5 months until bottling, without fining or filtration. Pouring a lightly hazy, crimson hue, this charms with wild herbs, salted scrubby rosemary, and white pepper scenting the wild raspberry, plum, and cherry palate. Tannins are soft and malleable, shaping the slight body to a lingering, salt studded and tobacco scented finish. Really charming, and lovely to see this style in the southern Okanagan.Tasted: 05 August 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
