Nicolas Mariotti Bindi Hors-Série Rouge 2018

Corsica, Sud de France, FranceAfter studying law in Paris, Nicolas decided to make a U-turn and return to his roots in Corsica to live the dream of winemaking. Nicolas set up his winery in Oletta where he organically grows 7 ha of vines on his domaine. These Nielluccio (Sangiovese) vines, in conversion to organics, are 49, 24, and 10 years old, planted on a north facing slope of clay and limestone. After a 48 hour cold soak in concrete, this was native fermented, and remained there for 2 years’ rest. It is bottled with a slight fining, unfiltered, with minimal SO2. Dusky cherry, leather, nutmeg work along a smouldering stony base, with bright, buzzy acidity and tightly firm fine tannins pinning all in. An authentic view of the grape from this special island; very unique.Tasted: 29 August 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
