Las Moradas de San Marín La Sabina Garnacha 2015

Madrid, SpainEstablished in 1999, Las Moradas de San Martín was established to recover the centuries-old vineyards of Garnacha that had been cultivated there since the 12th century. Located in the hilltops of Pago de los Castillejos, they benefit from its altitude and granitic / volcanic soils, imbuing a natural freshness and minerality. Winemaker Isabel Galindo farms organically / biodynamically. La Sabina comes from dry farmed wind-whipped bush vine garnacha at 900m, rooted in rocky granite, on the Madrilean side of Sierra de Gredos. it was native fermented over 3 weeks prior to a rest averaging 16 months in French oak of various sizes prior to bottling without fining or filtration, and no sulphur. This reflects the hot 2015 vintage, with baked red fruits, sweaty leather, iodine, with ample sticky tannins hugging this through the finish. Acidity is still granitic and mountainous, but the ripeness of the fruit at 15% pulls this down. A chewier garnacha for your roast beef.Tasted: 31 August 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
