Hic et Nunc Femminile Singolare Barbera del Monferrato 2018

Piedmont, ItalyHic et Nunc is from from the Latin 'Here and Now', and devoted to making wines from their home in Monferrato, in northwestern Italy's Piemonte. Of their 100 hectares of arable lands, woods and poplar groves, 20 hectares are dedicated to local vines, and the are entirely estate, organically managed, on clay limestone soils. The grapes in this, their classic 'feminine' barbera come off their Ca' Milano, Diego, and Mongetto vineyards, located near the winery at an average altitude of 240m and on a mix of red clays, white marls, and limestone. After 15 days maceration this spent one year in stainless. Fragrant purple florals lead into this plush, fuller, suave red, with dusky black cherry, black raspberry threaded with a cool steeliness, and surrounded with soft, fine, downy tannins. There's a beauty salted wild herbaceousness that runs the course of this wine, lingering on the finish. Lovely alluring freshness in this bigger red, making me think of herbed pork tenderloin or wild mushroom fricassee over polenta.Tasted: 29 July 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
