Hic et Nunc Altromondo Grignolino 2020

Piedmont, ItalyHic et Nunc is from from the Latin 'Here and Now', and devoted to making wines from their home in Monferrato, in northwestern Italy's Piemonte. Of their 100 hectares of arable lands, woods and poplar groves, 20 hectares are dedicated to local vines, and the are entirely estate, organically managed, on clay limestone soils. This grignolino, a native Monferrato grape cultivated since the 12th century, is rooted in white marl at 300m. It was fermented in stainless, with 12 days on skins, before resting there over 8 months. Scrubby wild herbs, tayberry, boysenberry is scented with iris florals and white peppercorn on the medium/full palate. Acidity is brisk, and tannins are long, fine, and firm, finishing with a lingering stony buzz. Very charming and characterful; take with a slight chill.Tasted: 27 July 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
