Culmina Family Estate Viognier 2021

Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada2021 was a challenging year for smoke in the Okanagan, but this wine has clearly escaped any damage. The fruit is from Stan’s Bench, certified organic, and wild fermented in neutral French oak. Look for floral notes up front, followed by more traditional honeysuckle and citrus blossoms. On the palate, it is dry with nectarine lime rind and starfruit flavours. Bright and aromatic, this is in a very youthful stage but remains pleasing already. It will be even better with time in the bottle. Culmina works hard on its suggested food pairings, such as honey-mustard roasted nuts; toasted Farro shaved fennel and citrus salad; traditional Goan-style prawn curry made with tamarind and coconut milk; honey-glazed pork tenderloin with grilled apricots and roasted root vegetables.Tasted: 23 July 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
