Yalumba Organic Viognier 2021

South Australia, AustraliaYalumba is credited with being the leading rescuer of Northern Rhone's viognier grape, close to slipping away to oblivion back in 1985 when there were only 32 hectares planted worldwide (and nearly entirely in the Rhone). Fast forward to today, when Yalumba is the largest producer of the grape, and viognier is healthfully planted and purchased around the globe. This organic viognier comes from the Babich family property, tucked up along the Murray River in Loxton, as well as the Bassham's family vineyard in Barmera, and Yarra Vale Vineyard in Virginia. This was native fermented in stainless, where it remained until bottling. The grape's characteristic apricot and lush peach are on display here, imbuing a cold cream palate that is scented with rose petals, honeysuckle, and ripe honeydew. Full of typicity without being a caricature, this is a lovely, pure introduction to the grape.Tasted: 05 May 2022Tasted by: Prices:
