Domaine Gavignet-Béthanie et Filles Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Clos des Dames Huguettes 2018

Burgundy, FranceDomaine Gavignet-Béthanie et Filles was formed in the 1970s when third generation wine-maker Christian Gavignet (whose father Gaby was the winemaker at the Hospices des Nuits) married Michèle Béthanie, who had family vine-holdings herself. Their daughters, Christine and Claire, have successfully run this sustainably farmed 9 hectare family enterprise since their first vintage in 2001. This wine comes off 40 year old vines around 300-400m, to the west of la Côte and its clay limestone marls. This aged 1 year in oak barrels. This fills the mouth with dark, fleshy cherries, black raspberries, forest floor on a juicy palate, smartly pinned with long, fine and firm tannins that draw to a lose on the finish. There's ample bright minerality enlivening the plush, darkly shaded palate, finishing with a grippy spice. Drinking smartly now, ideally with roast duck or game.Tasted: 01 April 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
