Domaine Charles Joguet Chinon Silènes 2018

Chinon, Touraine, Loire, FranceCharles Joguet abandoned his budding art career to take over the family vineyards in 1957, becoming caretaker to prime vineyard land and lieux-dits that had been recognized for their character and defined before the Renaissance, with some even dating back to the Middle Ages. He decided to stop selling the fruit to negotiants as his ancestors did, and start making single vineyard and terroir cuvées, somewhat revolutionary at the time. Silènes comes from organic vines in the sandy soils on the right bank of the Vienne River, native fermented, and aged 18 months in stainless. Delicate and perfumed, with crushed red and purple flowers, wild raspberry, fragrant raspberry on a slight palate, with whisper fine tannins and effortless acidity lifting this to a subtly spiced finish. Very finessed, and alluring.Tasted: 23 April 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
