Vertis Organic 2020

Yecla, Valencia and Murcia, SpainThe Castano family are the kings of monastrell, and their latest venture Vertis is another example of their ability to turn out attractive, inexpensive organic versions of this grape. Vertis is 90 percent monastrell mixed with a 10 percent blend of garnacha, syrah, petit verdot, cabernet sauvignon, and tempranillo. The attack is juicy and soft, with plenty of upfront black cherry streaked with wild black fruits and soft, easy sipping textures. Balanced and ready to drink, this would work with many favourite chicken, rice or pizza dishes, or more decadent one-pan vegetable dishes. Not listed yet but what else is new in BC?
