Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA 50/50 blend of pinot noir and chardonnay, the 2013 Vintage Bub was aged on its lees for five years, benefiting from another couple of years in bottle since being disgorged in June 2019. It's quite a complex, serious sparkling wine, which is showing beautiful maturity at this stage. There's a combination of gold-hued fruits along with nuts, earthy mushroom, and ample toasty character. I love the finesse and balance, with a soft, elegant mousse that gives way to a chalky texture laden with dried citrus fruits. A complete wine, to be sure.Tasted: 27 November 2022Tasted by: Prices:

Haywire Vintage Bub 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada2014 is here, but it was a pleasure drinking 2013 for several years. Translation, this sparkler was built to age in the bottle. The Vintage Bub is a serious bottle of fizz that gets extended ageing at the winery and is released only when it is showing its best. Both 2013 and 2014 were aged on its lees for 60 months before disgorgement, in this case, June 19, 2021. Like its predecessor, this stony, earthy, leesy bubble is a winner already and will continue to improve in bottle. The acidity is perfect, and the dusting of Okanagan sagebrush, licorice, and minerality only heighten its appeal. Haywire Vintage Bub 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaVintage Bub is the result of an extended aging program for Haywire's impressive fizz program, begun in 2013 when The Bub was given an additional five years of lees aging before release. This is equal parts chardonnay and pinot noir from 2014, with an additional 5 years on lees prior to disgorge June 2019. This new release is quite complete at present, confident in its age, and well knit with broken stone, lemon pith, green apple, on a burnished bed of earthy lees, tightened at the end by a brace of citrus acidity and a kiss of anise.Tasted: 26 February 2022Tasted by: Prices:
