Minervois, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceFrom the Haut Minervois, between 200 and 350 meters above sea level, this mix of cinsault, grenache, syrah, and mourvèdre is farmed using organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wine is made without sulphites and added yeast, and fermented in stainless steel. Expect a dark cherry colour, a nose full of black and red fruits, and a palate of crunchy red currants, cherries, dark plums and blackcurrants, dusted in pepper. It has a harder, grapey natural edge, perhaps lacking the warmth of most southern French reds, but reflects its terroir. You can serve this with any number of foods, from chicken to grilled vegetables, or fresh or aged cheeses.Tasted: 06 February 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Minervois, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceChâteau Coupe-Roses is situated at La Caunette, a small village in Minervois, close to the Montagne Noire or Black Mountain. The organically farmed vines sit over limestone uplands at 250 and 400m above sea level. The cépage is a mix of cinsault, grenache, syrah, and mourvèdre. Interestingly this wine is made with no added sulphites or yeasts. The colour is purple/black before a rush of black fruits and underbrush with bright acidity and dry, youthful tannins with a final dusting of pepper. It could use some ageing to allow the tannins to soften and the wine to get a little more expansive, but it has an exciting edge that makes it fun to drink now too. Currently, it needs to be served with grilled beef or pork. If you like wines with zero intervention, this is it.Tasted: 14 January 2022Tasted by: Prices:
