Valdipiatta Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2017

Tuscany, ItalyValdipiatta was founded in 1973, but it was not until Giulio Caporali purchased the property in 1990 that it began to earn a reputation for producing some of the finest Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. This impressive Valdipiatta cuvée is a blend of 95/5 Prugnolo Gentile (sangiovese) / canaiolo that was fermented in stainless before a 6 month rest in barrique before prior to another year in large oak casks, plus 6 more months in bottle. Smoothed marginally with time in the bottle, this stately wine carries black cherry, black raspberry, bitter cassis through the fresh, yet full palate. Tannins are firm and striated, housing this bigger red to a spiced finish. Still somewhat unyielding, this requires roast lamb or beef to tame at this time.Tasted: 06 December 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
