J. Christopher Volcanic Pinot Noir 2015

Willamette Valley, Oregon, United StatesIn the 2015 vintage, J. Christopher Wines introduced two new labels, Volcanique, and Basalte, to replace the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. They divided that cuvée into two AVA-specific wines to offer more focused wines at the same price point. Volcanique comes off hand selected sites from the Dundee Hills AVA, home to some of the oldest pinot noir plantings in the state. The J. Christopher philosophy is about an Old World style that emphasizes focus, length, and balance. Even though it is a warm year and the wine is somewhat brawny on the mid-palate, it is Oregon pinot. The entry is juicy with earthy, bloody, red cherry and a rich, soft, lush texture that melts in your mouth. Expressive and rich enough to take on full-flavoured dishes like pork belly or duck.Tasted: 22 October 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
