Domaine Jean Claude Courtault Côte de Grisey Bourgogne Epineuil 2018

Burgundy, FranceThis Régionale Bourgogne earned the geographical designation of the village Epineuil, in northern Bourgogne, where the grapes are sourced. Jean-Claude Courtault arrived in the Chablis region almost 40 years ago, determined to create his own estate, and producing his first vintage in 1984. Today his daughter Stéphanie and her husband Vincent Michelet run this sustainably farmed, 2 hectare domain. This pinot is rooted in south/southeast facing kimmeridgean limestone. It was cool macerated and fermented in stainless, where it predominantly remained for 10 months (15% in older oak barrels). Tight and nimble via the kimmeridgian and northern latitude, this lighter red positively hums along the palate, brightening wild cherry, raspberry, perfumed rosehips, framed by fine, grippy, firm tannins. This lingers with a stony rasp, and ample lingering salinity. A little charmer, ready for drinking now.Tasted: 31 October 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
