Penfolds Cabernet Sauvignon Bin 407 2019

South Australia, AustraliaGago has referred to the 407 with respect “as not unlike a youthful and sprightly Bordeaux Right Bank Merlot sourced off clay – all red fruits, cranberry." The cabernet is multi-regional from Padthaway, Coonawarra, Wrattonbully, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley that spends one year in French oak (27% new) and American oak (8% new) hogsheads. It is meant to be a cabernet first and foremost. The attack begins with a hint of menthol, cedar, oregano and more up front. The black fruit mixes into the bitter chocolate and walnut to finish the cabernet theme seamlessly. It is a textbook cabernet, but the style is made for less ageing than you would afford the 389 and 707.Tasted: 10 September 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
