Fento Wines La Liebre y la Tortuga Albariño 2020

Rías Baixas, Galicia, SpainOne of winemaker Eulogio Pomares' many projects (most notably, Zarate), this youthful albariño has the energy of the rabbit (libère), as well as the grape's tortoise-like ageability (the tortuga). Sourced from the mountainous sub-region of Condado, alongside the river Miño, and from 10-15 year old vines on granite and slate soils, this was vinified and aged for a short time in stainless. Spritely and a bit spritzy, this is a fresh, bright white, shining with gooseberry, guava, pear skin, and grapefruit, with a dusting of white pepper and a subtle granitic grip on the lighter palate, finishing with a pithy lime twist. Drinking well now, with lighter white fish or salads.Tasted: 16 September 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
