Rigour and Whimsy Roussanne Marsanne 2018

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis orange wine blends 90% roussanne and 10% marsanne from the sustainably farmed Webster Vineyard in Osoyoos at 300m. Whole berries were native fermented and on skins in stainless for 4 months before heading to used puncheons and barriques for 15 months' rest. Previous vintages of their flagship orange were made for the winery via the good folks at Okanagan Crush Pad; this is the first vintage that they've made it themselves. Pouring a hazy gold hue, this is full in the mouth for only a slight 11.7%, drawing textural apricot, bergamot, honeydew, ash slowly along the structural palate, finishing bone dry with a rasp of ginger. Quite serious indeed, drinking beautifully now, and with some time ahead.Tasted: 09 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
