Quails' Gate Clone 49 Riesling 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Collection Clone 49 Riesling showcases an emerging South Kelowna microclimate that appears to be highly friendly to riesling and pinot noir. In the case of this Alsace clone, set out on a cool climate quartz-laced site awash in millions of years old alluvial melt and sandy loam, gently sloping west, the mix is a winner. Expect a more floral, almost Mosel-like tone on the nose with fresh, racy green apple streaked with lime zest and a flinty, mineral, oyster liqueur, dry finish. It would be fantastic with vegetarian sushi rolls or a favourite Thai seafood dish. You would hardly notice it was fermented and aged in a mixture of puncheons and French Oak barriques with moderate stirring of the lees. An impressive start for such a young wine and vineyard.Tasted: 10 July 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
