Pearl Morissette Irrévérence 2018

Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaThis, their second vintage of Irrévérence, blended Riesling, Chardonnay, and Gewürztraminer (including 30% botrytized Gew) coming off Twenty Mile Bench, Lincoln Lakeshore, and Niagara on the Lake vineyards. Each grape was treated separately, in various mixes of foudre, stainless, quervi, and the botritized Gew and a portion of the Riesling was co-fermented. Each wine rested on lees in their respective mix of vessels for one year prior to blending, and an additional year together in concrete and foudres. This was bottled unfined and unfiltered in early fall 2020. Pouring a golden hazy hue, this bone dry white rings with honeysuckle, bosc pear, apricot, and lime peel, streaming along a subtly textural palate, thanks to the partial skin contact. The wine is in motion throughout, quite alive yet nonchalant, through a VA laced finish. A lovely subtle, layered orange, drinking smartly now.Tasted: 25 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
