Pearl Morissette Fougue 2018

Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, Canada2018 marks the second vintage of Fougue, their chardonnay off their high density home farm vineyard in Creek Shore. Whole clusters native fermented in a mix of concrete and foudre, where it remained on lees for 23 months prior to bottling unfined and unfiltered. The gently generous fruit is laced with ample salinity, seasoning red and green apple, light cream, wild herbs, and meadow grasses. There is a palpable energy throughout, returning to mineral salts on the finish. A lovely chardy of place, drinking well now and with time ahead.
