Peak Cellars Skin Kissed Pinot Gris 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis gris takes its colour from 16 hours of skin contact before being pressed off, but despite its beautiful pale colour, it is not a rosé. Instead, it is a delicious pinot gris with fabulous, juicy, red apple and strawberry nose that spills onto the palate, where that savoury North Okanagan sagebrush and tarragon kick in and balances the wine. There is an extra layer of texture from the skin contact without the bitterness that enlivens the wine from front to back. It is an excellent role model for a varietal wine desperately in need of changes worldwide and a great story from Lake Country, 30 minutes north of Kelowna. Peak Cellars Skin Kissed Pinot Gris 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis gets a beautiful pale peach colour from 16 hours on skins, after being harvested from Block 18. It may be rosé-like in colour, but it's still very much pinot gris in character. There's a real precision to the fruit, showing peach skin, orange blossom, strawberry water, and red apple. There's a pithiness to the texture, without being bitter, and concentration and depth that is above the norm. A really interesting expression of pinot gris, and one you don't commonly find in the Okanagan. Recommended.Tasted: 04 July 2021Tasted by: Prices:
