Orofino Orange Skin Contact Muscat 2020

Cawston, Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis year's Orange sourced muscat from 3 Similkameen vineyards: Hendsbee and Orofino's Home Vineyard, which rest on the Cawston Bench, and a neighbouring vineyard on the valley floor. The Bench sites have a couple of feet of rich soils before 100 feet of gravel and river rock, while the valley floor is much richer river deposits. The grapes were all combined and co-fermented on skins for 24 days until dry. It was then bladder pressed and aged on light lees in older barrels for 6 months before bottling, unfined and unfiltered, with minimal sulphur. As the name and style suggest, this pours a glowing golden, hazy hue, with ample apricots, peach skin, bergamot on a sleek palate, gripped with skin tannins and tension around the edges. With ample wild Similkameen stoniness throughout, this finishes with a bitter tangerine twist.Tasted: 28 July 2021Tasted by: Prices:
