Niepoort Diálogo Tinto 2019
Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalThis youthful red may show a (Canadian themed!) comic on the label, but make no mistake, this is a serious wine, from one of the world's top winemakers, Dirk Niepoort. This is a blend of touriga franca, touriga nacional, tinta roriz, tinta amarela from the Cima Corgo's schistous soils, and vines up to 40 years in age. This was native fermented in stainless, and aged in a mix of stainless and oak for 6 months. Youthful and fresh with wild blackberries, tayberries, plum on a stony, schistous palate. Tannins are light and lightly grippy, and acidity is lofted, both carrying this to a subtly saline, rockrose finish.
