Moon Curser Touriga Nacional 2019

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis rarely seen Touriga Nacional is planted in Osoyoos East Bench's loamy sands. As expected, this is a super dense, rich, extracted massive red (at 15.5%). What is not expected is the insane amount of peppery rotundone. Wow! From the first scent to the warming finish, this is like drinking wine full of cracked black peppercorns, which inflames the alcoholic heat. Under that blanket of pepper, you can find baked blackberries, baked black cherries on a soft, velveteen palate. Tannins are ample and sticky through the chewy finish. This has little to do with touriga nacional to me and a lot to do with winemaking decisions. Look elsewhere for your big red, unless you really love black pepper.Tasted: 12 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
