Martin's Lane Naramata Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPinot noir was first planted at the ranch in 2008, with several more blocks added at different elevations and expositions over the next decade. It is an amazing mix of sites and mesoclimates, depending on the exposition and proximity to Okanagan Lake. Four clones are in the ground: Pommard, 943, 828 and 667. In a picture-perfect 2016 growing season, three of the four clones (no 828 this year) were picked on September 26 and 27. A mid-valley pinot gives it a richer structure than its northern brethren, crafted with the same care and precision. The clones are cofermented in concrete with 35 percent whole bunches over 32 days and spend 17 months in extra tight grain French and Austrian oak. I like the bold flavours of black cherries and the savoury licorice and spice that highlight the pure tones of this pinot. Both complex and elegant, you can drink this now or cellar through 2025 and beyond.Tasted: 02 July 2021Tasted by: Prices:
