Martin's Lane Fritzi’s Vineyard Riesling 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFritzi's vineyard is a tiny single vineyard at the base of Mt. Boucherie, a dormant volcano in West Kelowna at 49.83°N. It is a warm, south-eastern facing parcel named after owner Anthony von Mandl's centenarian-plus mother. The vines were 19 years old and all clone 21B. There is a one day plus cold soak with stems before a spontaneous ferment that runs 7-14 days in ceramic, German oak stück, and stainless steel before it all spends nine months on lees. The Fritzi riesling style is ripe and full of lovely sweet mango streaked with guava and kiwi over a saline, citrus finish. It's finished with five grams of sugar, but you would be hard-pressed to detect it in the finish. Winemaker Shane Munn hand sorts the riesling and doesn't crush all the berries before they go to press sans sulphur. An exquisite bottle that will age effortlessly.Tasted: 02 July 2021Tasted by: Prices:
