Martin's Lane Fritzi’s Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaNamed after owner Anthony Von Mandel's mother, Fritzi's Vineyard is located at the base of Mt. Boucherie, a granite soiled dormant volcano, at Mission Hill Family Estate's West Kelowna home base. This pinot is from a single block of the oldest pinot vines, planted in 1997 to clone 115. After a native ferment with 55% whole clusters and a 36 day maceration, this spent 17 months in French and Austrian extra tight-grained oak. Full bodied and fleshy with dark cherry, brooding plum, boysenberry, dark cocoa, and dark plum. Tannins are firm and long, housing this muscular pinot through a cola spiced finish. There is a lot of power and intensity here, drinking well now (with, say, duck or rich mushroom dishes), but still has a couple years ahead to shed some of the youth.Tasted: 08 August 2021Tasted by: Prices:
