Jorche Primitivo di Manduria 2017

Salento, Puglia, ItalyThis primitivo is rooted in red, iron-oxide rich layers of sandstone in the Torricella area of middle Manduria. Post-ferment, these 40 year old vines were aged 9 months in barrique, and several years in the bottle prior to release. Rich and intense, as you would expect (notwithstanding the 15% alcohol), with plush, cushy and sweet plum, baked red currants, anise, pipe tobacco housed by soft, velvet tannins, finishing with a dusting of sweet baking spices. This is all of primitivo's soft generosity, bolstered by Puglian warmth.Tasted: 20 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
