Haywire Pinot Noir Secrest Mountain Vineyard 2019

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 38 acre Secrest Mountain Vineyard is located north of Oliver, on a bench above the valley floor that sits at 487m elevation. The soils are alluvial based, with coarse gravel and sandy loam. Okanagan Crush Pad has been farming this site since 2010. It's now certified organic under their ownership, and winemaker Matt Dumayne has really dialled this in. It shows a darker fruit profile, with black raspberry, spiced cherry, and perfumed, savoury spices that allude to that ethereal quality of pinot. Aged in concrete, it's quite textural with fine, supple tannins. There is some richness and weight here, too, and even at 13.5% there's a warmth to the finish. Give this a light chill and enjoy over the next 3-4 years.Tasted: 06 June 2021Tasted by: Prices:
