Orofino Syrah 2019
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis single vineyard syrah comes off a higher altitude, windy, rocky, older vine Keremeos Bench. After destemming, this was native fermented in open top fermenters and hand punched twice daily, and then pressed into older French barrels, where it aged for 16 months before bottling without fining or filtration. Striking Similkameen syrah, with a tight fist of pure black cherry and balsamic wind swept with stoniness, and seasoned with savoury wild herbs and peppery spices. Tannins are compact and well integrated throughout.
