Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe LS Syrah is estate farmed at the Perfect Hedge Vineyard on the Osoyoos East Bench. Côte Rôtie inspired, the wine always has a small drop of viognier in the mix. The style is somewhat wild and rugged on the surface, but underneath it is more subtle. The first pick is a whole-berry ferment in stainless steel, and the second is fermented in 500L open-top French puncheons. It is all aged for 20 months in French oak (28% new). The result is sophisticated fragrant blue fruit with a subtle mix of grilled meat and smoke throughout rich Bing cherry and black raspberry. There is tannin to drop but nothing to indicate it won’t emerge in 2024-2026 as a tasty Okanagan syrah.Tasted: 09 April 2021Tasted by: Prices:

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom their estate Perfect Hedge vineyard, on the Black Sage Bench, this syrah had 3% viognier tipped in. That lot was whole berry fermented first, in stainless, while the second pick was entirely syrah, fermented in 500L open top French puncheons and stainless. After pressing this aged for 20 months in French oak (28% new). Ripe and forward, with fragrant blueberries, damson plum, cassis, grilled meats laced with downy violet and espresso on the plush, posh palate. Tannins are ample, but well-enveloped by the fruit, leaving a gentle sticky tug in their wake.
