Covert Farms Chardonnay 2020
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCovert Farms' inaugural chardonnay, the 2020 was clone 100, planted in 2007 on their organic estate, at 420m up on McIntyre Bluff. This was fermented and aged in a mix of 75% stainless, 25% oak. Creamy and round, with ample wood-spiced lemon curd, lemon peel, green apple, Anjou pear, macadamia nut leading the upfront palate, brightened by altitude and a cool stoniness that lingers on the finish. Great first effort, and looking forward to future editions (and a little less wood-presence).
