Vasse Felix Tom Cullity Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Margaret River, Western Australia, AustraliaVasse Felix, Margaret River's founding wine estate, was established by Dr Thomas Brendan Cullity in 1967. Among his first plantings were Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec vines, from which he produced the estate’s first red wine. The Tom Cullity descends from these original vines. This vintage blends 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot, and saw 16 months in French barrique (51% new). There's an herbal green edge to this full wine, now showing some age through the lightly browning cherry and cassis flooding the fuller palate. Tannins are ample and structural, with a stickiness most likely reflective of the warm vintage. Tasting ready to drink now.
