Stag's Hollow Dolcetto Rosato 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis deeply hued rosé of dolcetto calls itself a rosato, harkening to the grape's Italian roots. From their estate Shuttleworth Creek Vineyard, in OK Falls, this was foot stomped, and has spent 5 days on skins in cold maceration, hence the deeper, gutsy hue. It was then pressed into concrete tanks, innoculated and fermented, and then finished aging in stainless. Peppery rhubarb, red and black currant, boysenberry, black tea floods a medium-bodied palate, bound by that savoury peppery spicing to a snappy finish. Certainly unique, this would be a welcome addition to some heartier charcuterie, or grilled sausages this summer.Tasted: 12 May 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
