Rioja Bordón Gran Reserva 2009

Rioja, SpainThis is classic Gran Reserva Rioja at a very reasonable price. Bodegas Franco-Espanolas dates to 1890, and this is very much a traditional approach to Rioja, from the blend (80% tempranillo, 16% garnacha, 2% mazuelo, and 2% graciano) to the maturation in American oak for 36 months. Rioja has this amazing ability to retain freshness as it ages, and that's certainly the case here. There's a wonderful balance between fresh red cherry, raspberry, savoury sundried tomato, sandalwood, and leather. Medium-bodied and lively, the tannins are already nicely resolved and softened. Enjoy now or hold for another 5+ years.Tasted: 06 May 2021Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
