Niche Wine Co. Pinot Noir 2019
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThey only make 125 cases of the this pinot, and it all comes off the family owned and operated Hugh & Mary Vineyard. The vineyard averages just under 20 years of age and is a mix of clones 667 and 115. It is fermented in small, ½ ton lots, and cold soaked for ten days. They were punched down three times a day and then gently basket pressed and aged in 25% new French Oak for 11 months. The style is slightly rustic but in a good way, with fairly bright fruit. The nose is lifted to the limit with raspberry and cherry over the earth and herbal notes. Soft and juicy, you can drink this now.
