Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South AfricaFrom vines averaging 26 years of age, and decomposed granite, Hutton and Clovelly soils. This aged 24 months in 225L French barrels (50% new). Pencil shavings, gravels pervade this savoury cabernet, built around a core of black cherry fruit. Tannins are somewhat raggedy but well integrated into the plumped fruit, finishing with a dusting of earthy spice and a flush of heat.
