Ceibo Godello 2019

Valdeorras, Galicia, SpainXurxo Alba's family has been farming and making Albariño in Rïas Baixas' O Salnés subregion for generations. It wasn't until Xurxo finished his enology studies that the Alba family started bottling and commercializing their wines in 2006, under his direction. The Alba family owns 2.5 hectares and sources approximately 10 hectares throughout the Atlantic influenced region. In his ongoing quest to make fresh, characterful wines, he found a unique vineyard in A Rúa, Valdeorras, lying at 500m and planted to old vines in in slate soils. This godello comes from that site, was pressed with stems and native fermented, with one third aging in steel and the remainder in French oak for 8 months on lees. Savoury and saline, with lemon custard, tangerine, meadow grass and a rasp of fine honeysuckle spicing along the finish. This has texture without weight, and oak structure without the flavour of wood. An excellent food wine, ideally with seafood / shellfish and lemon kissed orzo or risotto.Tasted: 26 May 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
