Bachelder Willms les Naturistes Gamay Noir Niagara Cru 2019

Four Mile Creek, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaThomas Bachelder waxes about Les Naturistes, "a beautiful site guarded by a huge Willow tree on Line Two in Niagara-on-the-Lake." Erv and Esther Willms and their children Rebecca and Eric farm the historic site and grow most of the food they eat on the same farm. The gamay noir was planted in 1983, six kilometres from Lake Ontario and four kilometres from the Niagara River, in the heart of the Four-Mile Creek, itself a sub-appellation of Niagara-on-the-Lake on Line Two. The soil is a mix of silt, loamy-clay, gravel, limestone and sand. Bachelder calls the wine "Les Naturistes" because it comes without any make-up. The punch downs are gentle, the wine light-coloured, spicy, red-fruited and stylish with silky tannins and a long, penetrating old-vine finish. An excellent gamay for wine aficionados. Super value.Tasted: 22 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:
