Adega Mãe Lisboa Valley Selection Red 2018

PortugalFrom Lisboa's Adega Mãe, and winemakers Anselmo Mendes and Diogo Lopes, this blends touriga nacional, tinta miuda, and merlot from Ventosa, in Torres Verdas. Approximately 1/3 of this wine was raised in used French oak, with the remainder in stainless. It's a welcome change from a few vintages ago, which was heavy on the international varieties, and all French and American oak-aged. 2018 shows lovely herbal freshness brightening wild plum, wild blackberry, scrubby sappy herbs along a long, medium+ bodied palate. Tannins are fine and well-integrated, siding this to the anise seasoned finish. Well done, and a lovely example of an Atlantic-influenced fuller red.Tasted: 01 May 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
