Spier Pinotage Signature Collection 2019
Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South AfricaWinemaker Johan Jordaan has sourced this Pinotage from Durbanville and Darling, up the coast from Cape Town and further inland from Paarl. Like the merlot, this is predominantly aged in stainless steel with the use of French oak staves. Twenty percent of the wine is aged in French barriques for 8 to 10 months. It shows soft, lush black fruits accented by raspberry, dried flowers, and subtle, integrated oak. It's richly concentrated without being over-extracted and doesn't have a problem carrying the 14.5% abv as a result.
