Poggio Anima Lilith Primitivo 2017

Salento, Puglia, ItalyPoggio Anima is a joint project between Toscana's Le Ragnaie, and one of their American importers to highlight different regions and indigenous grapes around Italy. Each cuvée in the colourful series is named for fantastic mythical beasts. From 27 year old vines in Salento's rocky volcanic soils, laced with limestone, sands, and red clay, this was fermented over 3 weeks in stainless before moving into French barriques (15% new) for 7 months aging. Ripe, leathery raspberry and strawberry lead the full bodied palate, with a rasp of sweet baking spices, and sticky tannins that land the finish. Now with some age, this is a gentler, softer version of primitivo, all the better for it. Drink now.Tasted: 21 April 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
