Poggio Anima Gabriel Pecorino 2019

Abruzzo, ItalyPoggio Anima is a joint project between Toscana's Le Ragnaie, and one of their American importers to highlight different regions and indigenous grapes around Italy. Each cuvée in the colourful series is named for fantastic mythical beasts. This pecorino comes from Abruzzo's Chieti, located close to the Adriatic Sea. This is an understated, leaner version of the grape, with yellow apples, wild lemon, white melon, and grape skin, on a slight, textural palate, finishing with a crab apple tartness and marine salinity. A small portion underwent skin contact, and all was native fermented and aged on lees in stainless for 6 months. Not your typical pecorino, sadly.Tasted: 21 April 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
