Poggio Anima Asmodeus Nero d'Avola 2019
Sicily, ItalyPoggio Anima is a joint project between Toscana's Le Ragnaie, and one of their American importers to highlight different regions and indigenous grapes around Italy. Each cuvée in the colourful series is named for fantastic mythical beasts. From the sandy volcanic clay slopes of western Sicily, these 27 year old vines were fermented in stainless, before 6 months in 500L French tonneau, and an additional 3 months' tightening stint in steel. Wild plum, wild blackberry, floral blueberry flood the juicy palate, infiltrated with pepper and sweet baking spicing on the finish.
