José Zuccardi Malbec 2014

Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaJosé Zuccardi, initially known as Zeta, is a salute to the family history in wine “as seen through José Alberto’s innovative eyes,” says son Sebastián Zuccardi, head of Zuccardi Valle de Uco. It’s a throwback to the older Euro style of winemaking and the use of French oak, in this case, two years in large foudres. Five percent of cabernet sauvignon is in the mix, which is most elegant with plenty of underlying acidity, and a floral, black cherry profile mixed with leather and light spicing. Subtle for Argentina, it is both complex and mysterious, mixing dense, refined tannins with an earthy coffee underside. Drink or hold, there is no big rush to finish this wine at the seven year mark.Tasted: 10 April 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
