Famille Chasselay Morgon Corcelette 2019

Morgon, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceThe Chasselay family can trace their lineage in the village of Chatillon d'Azergues, in southern Bojo’s Pierres Dorees, back to 1418. The region, the land of the golden stones, is named for the local ochre-hued limestone, traditionally quarried for buildings. Fabien Chasselay, his sister Claire, and their father Jean-Gilles have farmed their 15 acres in the Pierres Dorees organically since 2000, with the average vine age of 55 years. This comes from the famed Morgon plot of Corcelette, and certified organic 70+ year old vines rooted in its decomposed granite, stony soils at 460m. This was native fermented, 80% destemmed, and with 2 weeks on skins prior to one year in wood. Beauty wild plum, wild blackberry, fragrant violets flood the finessed palate, structured via long, slender tannins, and seasoned with mineral salts. The lengthy finish entices and buzzes with that granitic grip. Structure for aging, yet drinking beautifully nowTasted: 21 April 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
