Conti Capponi Villa Calcinaia Chianti Classico 2016

Tuscany, ItalyOrganically grown grapes at Greve in Chianti are at the root of this stylish Chianti Classico. The blend is 90/10 sangiovese/canaiolo grown over albarese soils at 225-325m. A standard stainless steel and cement ferment is followed by a 20 month stop in casks before the final blend. A fine vintage reveals a very correct, youthful, fresh, almost tart acidity that works with the bright, red cherry and red currants to lift the midpalate before earthy forest floor notes fill out the finish. I would wait two or three more years before opening this wine or serve it now with grilled proteins. A solid textbook example of Chianti Classico.Tasted: 21 April 2021Tasted by: Prices:
